The reason I'm going to this much trouble!
The short answer is, 'Because I feel like it!'
The extended answer is, 'I've always been a big fan of food, especially eating lots of it but I am like many I'm sure overwhelmed by the amount of different foods there is available; Both foreign and British food can be gotten hold of with ease at any supermarket; I love foreign food just as much as British food, but what is traditionally British? Perhaps no-one knows for sure.
I have been the main cook in our household for many years but have only been home-baking for a couple of years, and I have learned a lot in the process - mainly through a string of culinary disasters - but I'm OK now. In fact I now often receive requests from friends and family to bake them something; what's more I do enjoy the work and preparation involved.
As the UK is a multi-cultural country overseas influence has had a dramatic impact on our food likings. Nothing wrong with that, most people (myself included) adore the many varying tastes brought about by this.
I do feel however that traditional British food is beginning to take a back seat in favour of many imported tastes.
This brings me to my main point; I intend to dedicate this blog to traditional British cuisine, the sort Great-Gran used to make. On here I will be praising traditional UK fayre, and hopefully including loads of recipes for you to try; some famous and some rather obscure!'
I told you that was the extended answer!
I will attempt to update and add new posts and information as often as I possibly can, but please bear with me as I have 7 other blogs I'm working on and a couple of eBooks in the pipeline.
Thanks for your interest and keep checking back every now and then for the updates.
To culinary success!
Pete
